jurema

Jurema, Yurema, Calumbi, Tepezcohuite, (Mimosa tenuiflora, syn. Mimosa hostilis), is a psychedelic shrub in the Mimosa genus, endemic to southern Mexico, northeastern Brazil, El Salvador, Honduras, Panama, Colombia and Venezuela. The effects come primarily from the tryptamine alkaloid N,N-Dimethyltryptamine (DMT) and yuremamine, and is sometimes used as the DMT containing admixture plant in Ayahuasca preparations, although a traditional preparation called vinho da jurema is made from the root bark. Vaporized DMT lasts only a few minutes. Oral preparations can last up to 3 hours.
